In search of 25+ high energy performers for our December production of A Christmas Story the Musical. Come prepared to sing a short audition piece and dressed to dance. 

 

Major Characters: 

Jean Shepard (Narrator) - incidental singing only 

Ralphie - stage age 9/10 - excellent singer and reader, megawatt personality, minimal dancing 

Mother - excellent singer, must be very comfortable with children 

The Old Man - strong singer, good dancer who isn't afraid to go "over the top" for co-medic purposes 

Randy – stage age 7 - excellent singer, a good dancer and fluent reader 

 

Featured Roles: 

Miss Shields - excellent singer with a strong belt voice, tap dancer and actor who can handle comedy AND children 

Santa – Not your usual Santa! Strong comedic actor and singer, must be comfortable with children. May be part of the adult male ensemble. 

 

Youth aged 8-14 are needed for the Kids’ Ensemble. Older teens will be considered for the adult ensemble. The Kids' Ensemble (7 named roles) is featured in several major scenes, and should plan on a robust rehearsal schedule! All of the Kids' Ensemble should be strong singers who can hold harmonies-dance experience (especially tap) is a bonus. 

 

The Adult Ensemble will consist of a mix of strong singers (numerous solos) and dancers, who will play a variety of smaller roles in scenes, as well as performing in larger production numbers. Some ensemble members will also play Santa's Elves in Higbee's Department Store.  Flexible team players who are comfortable with comedy and children are eagerly sought for this production!
